No its not like watching a movie in a Cinema hall. It’s different.
You get ready to go to a Play. People normally prefer dressing traditionally to go for a play. Men in Kurtas and women in Saris.
You don’t enter a ‘Theatre’ with pop corns and colas. I don’t want to humiliate movie goers ( btw I am one of them as well) but theater audience carry a different class of their own. While you enter and take your seat you keep hearing the bells ringing. No play will start till all three bells ring. Wow its the real moment of excitement when the third bell rings and in the dark silent hall slowly the curtain goes up (or sideways) and the stage comes up live in front of you.Every thing (property) on the stage is so well arranged and used in the due course of the play its really great to see that. Lights, music, sound each and everything matter, like wise its no retake for the actors. Everything is live in front of the audience. Characters take birth and you see life entering into them right there in front of you. Watching movies, TV, reading novels is all good entertainment but watching live theatre is fabulous…
I am going now , Sunday evening to do one such littleBIGthing…to watch a play Joke by Makrand Deshpande at Prithivi Theatre .
All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages.
